Beautiful Alberta Garden Wedding with Italian Touches

April 23, 2026 BY: Amy

“Haley and Francisco first crossed paths while working in World Health Gym — Haley in the Kids’ Club and Reception, and Francisco as a Manager. Their days were spent exchanging quick chats or stealing glances throughout our shifts. During quieter moments, they’d fold towels at the front desk, share laughs, and bond over their mutual love of The Office. Their first date was on September 5th, 2018: drinks at Rebel, followed by a late-night walk overlooking the Edmonton skyline. The chemistry was undeniable, and a few months later (in a traffic jam on the way home from a Christmas party in Calgary), they became a couple. Almost five years exactly to the date, on September 6th, 2023, Francisco surprised Haley with a proposal on a rooftop balcony in Madrid, Spain. This moment was extra sweet since Haley was convinced he planned to wait 6 full years before proposing. Exactly two years after that unforgettable moment, they celebrated their wedding surrounded by nature at the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens. They envisioned a day filled with their favorite things and people, woven together in a way that felt organic, elevated, modern, and luxurious. Inspired by a Tuscan summer, they incorporated subtle Italian influences throughout the day. With Haley’s mom being a lifelong florist, florals were an essential part of the design, creating a lush and emotional connection to family. The space was beautifully transformed with caterpillar-style floral displays cascading down guest tables, an impressive waterfall floral installation flowing from the head table, as well as beautifully hand-painted champagne glasses for the bridal party. Cocktail hour took place on the rooftop patio, where guests enjoyed hor d’oeuvres and prosecco. For the reception, interactive food stations allowed friends and family to mingle while creating customizable pastas and pizzas. To make the day even more personal, they surprised guests with a Made by Marcus cart, the home of their favorite ice cream. Later in the evening, Haley changed into a re-imagined version of her mom’s wedding dress – a special dedication to such an important person in her life. The night ended on an epic dance floor, buzzing with energy and joy that lasted until the final song. Every detail of their celebration beautifully reflected who Haley and Francisco are, both as individuals and as a couple, which created an unforgettable experience for everyone who shared in their day.”
