Al Fresco Garden Party Wedding in Colorado

March 6, 2023 BY: Bailey

“Katie and Sam’s Colorado garden party brought together delicate colors and whimsical floral to create a day that felt cohesive, warm and inviting for all their guests. Katie and Sam met the summer of 2012 on a college campus tour of Mesa University in Grand Junction, Colorado. A couple months went by and a close friend to Sam had sent out a tweet stating “Who wants to go to prom with Sam?” Katie simply liked the tweet and they ended up going to Sam’s senior prom together. As their senior year came to a close, Sam and Katie went their separate ways, both attending different colleges. After college Sam and Katie continued to cross paths as their families were frequently together. With an undeniable connection, Katie and Sam decided to give it a shot where they were lucky to spend a generous amount of time together during COVID and the rest is history! Katie, who runs Bonnie Blues Event Venue in Elizabeth, Colorado, knew the exact vision she wanted for her day. “As someone who sees hundreds of weddings every season, I just knew who I wanted my vendors to be and my vision was very clear,” states Katie. Sam’s family owns a beautiful home in Colorado. The couple and planners, Leslee and Nicole with Nicole Silver Events, knew it would be the perfect spot for their backyard, al fresco garden party. From a champagne wall to a flower filled dresser that housed the seating chart, each detail was thought out with care. The guest tables were lined with bud vases filled with airy summer florals, moss and wood branches. The ceremony space aisle was lined with lush and wild floral arrangements, and Katie’s bridesmaids stood tall beside her in a collection of floral printed dresses. To top off the reception, guests were visited by a Colorado pizza oven truck that popped out fresh, hand made dough! Katie and Sam spent the evening greeting their guests while serving them from the pizza truck! Samantha Ruscher Photography and Laurel Wedding Films made Katie and Sam feel so comfortable throughout the whole process and both companies fit their artistic and moody aesthetic perfectly. “Each vendor selected throughout our day felt like friends and we couldn’t have asked to work with a better team of creatives!”
