“Garrett proposed on the beach while we were on vacation in Maui. He had planned out a surprise date night and wouldn’t tell me where we were going or what we were going to be doing, which wasn’t unusual as Garrett loves planning surprise dates (last time we were in Maui he surprised me with a helicopter excursion). We arrived at a secluded beach on the other side of the island to find a beautiful picnic set up for us with candles, throw pillows, flowers, a charcuterie board and thankfully an umbrella! Rain started pouring down as the sun was starting to set so we moved underneath the umbrella and that’s when Garrett got on one knee and asked me to marry him. After excitedly saying “yes, of course!” one of my good friends from home who was living in Maui popped out of the bushes and had captured the whole proposal rain and all! She took photos of us on the beach after and on the way back to the hotel Garrett told me that my parents were going to be meeting us when we flew back to Colorado so that we could all celebrate together, it truly was the best.”
