“After months of secrets, the day had finally come! I, Daniel, had booked a winter trail ride through the Colorado Rockies. Madison had no idea what lay ahead with the perfect cover up story (and a looming ‘super bowl’ party later that same day). We mounted on horses and strolled peacefully through the front meadows of Red Valley Rebels Ranch. I sat atop a very tall and large horse with a beautiful named Penny, dark hair and mane. My nerves gradually increased as we rode through the trees and up towards the top of the mountain. Madison would glance back from time to time with a happy smile. Up ahead a coyote roamed across the barren snow landscape. As we rode up out of the valley, the mountains behind us came into view, spreading out before us, crested stark white against the crystal blue bird sky. The cold wind biting into us but the excitement kept me warm. We stopped the horses and slid off them. I asked our guide to take our photo. I feel like I blacked out when I buried one knee in the snow and she turned around to see me. Tears of shock and joy flowed as I told her why I wanted to marry her and put the ring on her finger. The Continental Divide loomed behind us, creating a dreamlike backdrop. A confident ‘yes’ and cheering ensued. It was our perfect day”
