A Summery Vancouver Wedding Filled with Bright Blooms

November 11, 2024 BY: Amy

“Samantha and Wyatt moved from Saskatchewan to British Columbia, and really wanted to show their friends and family their new home of Vancouver. Sam wanted a modern venue that had its own flair, with a view of the Vancouver skyline. She really wanted to create an intimate Vancouver experience with her guests, and wanted to spend quality time with each of them (since many of them came from out of town!). Additional chairs were placed to honor loved ones who have passed. The couple did a first look with private vows, which were very intimate and emotional, and they loved being able to have this moment to themselves before everything else. The bride also did a first look with her mom and her elderly grandparents, who made it out from Saskatchewan, and everyone was overwhelmed with emotion. Sam handpicked each piece of tableware and linens to create an overall modern aesthetic. As a whimsical touch, she hand-painted dog figurines as an homage to her and Wyatt’s puppy Lou, and hid them around the venue for a scavenger hunt. She also created custom cocktail napkins that also featured Lou’s face! Sam chose an Alena Leena Clivia gown, purchased from Everly Fine Bridal. Sam immediately knew it was the one! It features a corseted bodice with floral appliques and a tulle A-line skirt. She opted to pair these with simple drop pearl earrings. Wyatt wore a custom-made IndoChino suit with a floral liner to subtly match the overall spring florals vibe of the wedding. Wyatt also added a ‘Love You More’ embroidery on the inside of his suit, with the wedding date. Edge Catering and Lavish Liquid curated a spectacular menu for this wedding. There were lots of canapes during cocktail hour, while the guests enjoyed two different signature drinks — a Vodka Raspberry Sour and a Hastings Sunrise. The guests enjoyed a three-course plated dinner of vinaigrette salad, chicken breast or beef tenderloin, and lemon tart, paired with the best local wines. Sam worked closely with Michelle, owner and creative director of Blossom and Vine Floral Co., to create the floral pieces for her wedding. To create a sense of whimsy, Michelle suspended strings of fresh florals from the ceiling, framing the ceremony space and reception dinner table. She added lots of local seasonal blooms, and arranged them in centerpieces and bud vases. The centerpieces created both a meadow for the ceremony, and later, the reception sweetheart table. Michelle also created pocket square flowers for the groomsmen and elegant bouquets for the bridesmaids. As a final touch to the bridal bouquet, Michelle attached Lou’s dog tag to the bouquet ribbon. For the decor, Sam chose modern minimalist pieces, while incorporating florals and spring. For the seating chart, she created name cards on floral seed papers. She also incorporated a lounge on the balcony so guests can enjoy a drink while watching the sun set over the Vancouver skyline. “
