“We got married on August 5, 2022, in Qualicum Beach, BC on Vancouver Island. Our ceremony was held at Milner Gardens and Woodlands and our reception was held at Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria at the iconic Goats on the Roof Market in Coombs. We were married on our three-year engagement anniversary (thanks covid) after being together for 8 years. We met in 2014 when mutual friends were putting together a slow pitch team. We moved to Alberta together after just 6 months for work opportunities, but it led us to the Rocky Mountains where we fell in love and knew we wanted to hike together forever. We got engaged at the ocean while back in Victoria, so we knew we wanted to get married on Vancouver Island to be close to our family and friends. We made a list of our top three priorities; the ceremony must have an ocean view, there must be lots of west coast inspired food (hello prawns) and of course the wedding dress! Everyone told us that the day goes by so fast, so we wanted to make sure we soaked it all up. When looking back on the day it feels like so many special moments wrapped up together. Getting ready with our best friends and parents, waiting just one room apart for the ceremony to start, seeing each other for the first time at the altar, driving around Qualicum Beach in the limo taking pictures, the best dinner we have ever had and then the dancing! At 1:30 am we didn’t want the fun to stop and chanted to the DJ to play just one more song. Our entire family had an important role in making the day come together and after three years of planning the day was flawless. It was a perfect west coast day; we drank a lot of champagne, sang along to our favourite rap songs and finished the night with gelato and pizza.”
