A Lovely Italian Editorial in Boulder

March 5, 2026 BY: Amy

“Just outside Boulder, tucked into the foothills, sits Oceana’s Garden — a private estate that feels like it was dropped here straight from Europe. The family has been tending the home and gardens for more than two decades, and you can sense that care in every pathway, every tree, every layer of patina. It’s rare to find a property in Colorado that feels this established — warm, intimate, and full of quiet stories. When I first toured the space, it wasn’t just the architecture that caught me — it was the light. Late afternoon turns everything honey-gold, the kind of light that begs for long tables, friends lingering, and that perfect moment between day and night. I could instantly see it: aperitivos at sunset, clinking glasses, candlelight starting to flicker as the gardens go dusky. That’s where the idea for this editorial began. The color palette grew directly from that feeling — deep mustard and ochre, with hints of aubergine, tomato, and dark green. Summer, but without the saccharine sweetness. I wanted the table to feel layered and rich, with tone-on-tone patterned linens, seasonal florals, and food that looked as beautiful as it tasted — the kind of table that feels both designed and alive. For the bridal look, I leaned into more sculptural silhouettes that could hold their own against the house and landscape. There’s a grand lawn that seems made for dramatic movement — running across in a full skirt or standing still beneath the façade as the light drops. The property unfolds like a story: gardens and courtyards for wandering, stables and arenas that could easily transform into ceremony or dinner settings, patios made for late-night cocktails under the stars. Unlike most Colorado venues that open wide to mountain views, Oceana’s Garden feels cocooned — a world within a world. It’s private, transportive, and quietly romantic. This shoot was my way of showing what’s possible when you bring intention, color, and architecture together — when a space isn’t just the backdrop, but part of the story. A reminder that a Colorado wedding can feel like Europe at sunset: warm, layered, and alive with connection.”
