“When Travis flew around the world to surprise me and propose, I knew I wanted our wedding day to be just as special. Travis grew up spending summers in Westcliffe, where his grandmother has a house at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Throughout our relationship, Travis and I loved traveling to Colorado to see her. Being from Texas, and after visiting Colorado often, we always knew we wanted to get married in the mountains, so we thought how special it would be to start our marriage by having our wedding in a place that meant so much to us. We had already made so many amazing memories there, we knew we wanted to share this place with our closest family and friends. Travis’ grandmother, Kathy, was delighted when we asked her if we could celebrate our special day at her home. It was a place her and her late husband loved spending their time at. Planning an out of state wedding was definitely a challenge, but our vendors helped every step of the way. The week leading up to the wedding, Travis and I, along with a few of our family members headed up to Colorado from Texas to get the property ready for the big day. My grandpa helped with building a bridge to the ceremony site, my mom made the wedding cake, and Travis’ uncles helped with perfectly landscaping the ceremony and reception areas. With the help of our family, friends, and amazing vendors, our intimate backyard wedding was absolutely perfect and exactly how we envisioned it.”
