“Jarrod and Taylor met in 7th grade and were best friends through school but their relationship didn’t start until after high school ended. Jarrod confessed his love for her and eventually they decided to risk the friendship for something more. Two days before Taylor’s 28th birthday, Jarrod wanted to take her out for a date night and told her they were going to a drive-in movie. She had been wanting to do that for years since moving to Colorado. But instead he had a projector and screen in Cheeseman park and played a home movie of videos of them throughout the years. At the end, he proposed in an unexpected early snowstorm. Originally they wanted to elope, because the price of a wedding can be a down payment on a home, but they were convinced to have a wedding by their moms and now say that their day was priceless. They immediately planned to get married on their 10 year anniversary, which fell on a Monday, so it was already an unconventional wedding. When thinking about what their wedding day would look like, they wanted it to feel like a backyard family gathering that turns into an epic dance party and that’s exactly what is was! Champagne and a violinist to welcome everyone, and then nonstop dancing for the hours that followed. Since the couple decided to read their vows privately, Taylor had an idea that would fill that gap in the ceremony- a group vow, asking all of their friends and family to support them through their marriage. They thought that would be the most special part but what they didn’t know was that they would be surprised at the alter. Taylor’s uncle officiated the wedding and just before it was over, all of the guests stood up and read in unison “by the power vested in us, by the great state of Colorado, we now pronounce you husband and wife.” When looking back on their day, the couple says it’s the thing that makes them tear up every time.”
