“Zoe and Julian traveled from the east coast to say “I do” with a group of four friends in Aspen, Colorado last winter. Several summers ago, Zoe and Julian–both avid explorers–transited Aspen during a month-long road trip and fell in love with the landscape and ski town culture. They promised each other they’d one day return to explore the city during winter. Following two canceled weddings during the pandemic, the two decided to elope. Knowing they wanted to exchange their vows during winter, Aspen beckoned to them. The two legalized their union at the Aspen Courthouse on Friday afternoon before celebrating over drinks at Hotel Jerome…”
“… The following day, the couple was joined by four friends–including the bride’s sister who officiated the ceremony–as they prepared for the experience at their hotel. Zoe and Julian selected thoughtful details for their day that reflected their love for their community and an appreciation of the local landscape. They stored their rings in a wooden box hand-carved for them by their brother-in-law, worked with their uniquely talented florist to create a bouquet featuring pheasant feathers, and the bride wore hand-sewn leather cowboy boots as well as a vintage faux-fur coat gifted to her by her mother. As the sun was setting, we traveled to a plot of public land off the side of a backroad in Pitkin County. The couple, their guests, and me (the photographer) carefully made our way through 2+ feet of snow to a spot in the sunshine where Zoe and Julian promised their forevers with self-authored vows. The ceremony concluded when Zoe’s sister read a letter from their parents and the group toasted champagne in customized flutes before returning to Hotel Jerome to celebrate in classic Aspen style.”
