Winter Vow Renewal in McCall

“Love Story”

It was 1996 when our love story first began, just 2 awkward 13-year olds who happen to have some classes together and friend groups who merged. We dated for a bit in middle school but went our separate ways while still sharing many friends.

Now, fast forward to college at the University of Idaho. After discovering our mutual love for a good party, camping, and Adam Sandler movies, it wasn’t long before we graduated from college and moved in together, against the advice of our parents. This was the best decision we ever made.

We were married in 2008 and the wedding was the best day. We were surrounded by our family and friends, live music and a nacho cheese fountain. Yep, you heard that right.

Our first daughter was born in 2011, changing and focusing our lives for the better. Besides the commitment to one another, which we have always put first, we had the responsibility of another human. Everything was just the way it was supposed to be.

You could say that our love story plays out like many others. That is until June 9, 2017. This is the day were almost everything changed.

Mike was hit by a motorcycle head-on as he was coming home from an evening mountain bike ride, one of his favorite things to do. Mike’s accident left him completely paralyzed from the waist down. We spent that summer in the hospital navigating our new normal with a huge support system of family and friends holding it all together. The accident challenges us every day, but it doesn’t define us. We constantly learn new things about how to continue doing the things we love and wish time would slow down so we could breathe it all in.

While the life we live now is different than we thought it would be, in so many more ways it is exactly the same. The love we have for one another has never been stronger and is the foundation of our family. We live, laugh, love and had another baby in 2017, completing our family!

Renewing our vows was never a question of if but of when. We were so happy when Bridget told us she would be in McCall, Idaho over the holidays. It is our favorite place, and the best location to renew our commitment to one another.
