The Inspiration
“This styled wedding photoshoot was in December, with hopes for some sparkling snowy magic. The vision for the shoot was a “classic, timeless, elegant Montana winter wedding” but we didn’t have any snow! It was such a strange winter here last year. Since the grass and cattails were still golden, and we had a picturesque golden hour and sunset, I could still achieve my main goal for the aesthetic of the finished images, which was warmth. I wanted to communicate the feeling of warmth even in the snow/cold time of year to show that love doesn’t take time off for winter. It doesn’t take time off for anything. Love just is. And I wanted to show how that feels. The couple relaxing on the couch in the cattails was a representation of feeling comfortable and safe in a relationship. The models, Bianca and Richard, are a real couple. Bianca is actually my sister, so I can confirm that they are sweet, loving, and affectionate like this all the time. It was all very natural feeling, comfortable, intensely romantic, and warm, as was my goal. Any time they had a break from shooting, I would catch them slow dancing around the corner, out of sight, or just holding each other, looking into each other’s eyes. Their romance never ceased all day. This made it challenging to take any breaks from holding my camera to my eye! But it was so beautiful for me, and the other vendors present, to witness. Bianca and Richard told me that their relationship has blossomed and their bond has deepened since this shoot and they feel like it was a turning point for them as a couple. So magical! Even without the snow.”
