John + Alyssa
We picked a place to get married that had a lot of meaning to us. My husband raised catholic, and my mother’s side being from the Silver Valley area it felt like, a perfect and meaningful venue. Cataldo is such a historic church, and rarely does mass get said there, so it was a real honor. I also love the architecture and story behind the building itself. The church though got rid of the pews in the 70s which created a new project for me and my husband we ended up making 16 pews two weeks before our wedding we worked day and night to re-create the 4 pews in that church and it was a big challenge for us. It was amazing to see the pews that we made in Cataldo. We had live musicians playing classical hymns and Love Story by Taylor Swift on violin as I walked down the aisle. My sister made the aisle flower arrangements which made it truly felt like a fairytale.
Our reception on the other hand was a different story. We picked a beautiful venue called French gulch farms and gardens in Kingston, Idaho not too far from Cataldo. Sadly we missed out on our reception though because as my husband was carrying me into our reception he dislocated his knee and had to be sent to the hospital. Also to top it all off we were driving our way home from the hospital our car broke down on the side of the road. My mother bless her heart kept the party going and still did her speech I’m so very grateful that we had a videographer to capture our reception and it was very therapeutic to be able to watch our wedding video. It just goes to show that no matter how much you plan something life is going to happen. Regardless, we are still so happy with our wedding day and our photos and we were so happy to celebrate with our family and friends.
