We met at church in 2005. Typically, as a 14-yr-old, I didn’t like going to church. On this particular Sunday, I agreed to get out of bed early to go to church, where my mom promised to introduce me to this guy who needed a drummer for his band. We played in the band together for a year before we started dating.
Before long it was time to go off to college. The band didn’t stay together, but we did. We moved from our small hometown 100 Mile House to the big city, Vancouver. After finishing our undergraduate degrees we moved from the west coast to Toronto to pursue higher education. Each time we flew back to B.C. for a visit, I would set my gaze out the airplane window, waiting for a glimpse of the gorgeous mountains that we called home. Being so far from our home was challenging, but ultimately it brought us closer together. 3 years later we moved home to Vancouver with a new appreciation for the beauty of British Columbia.
On December 29, 2018, we tied the knot in the church where we met 13 years ago.
