This styled shoot, captured by Wander West Photography, is meant to inspire brides on their wedding day to step in front of the camera alone. These bridals at Garden Oasis in Vancouver, British Columbia are light and fresh.
The Inspiration
For this styled shoot, we wanted to inspire brides to make time on their wedding day to have a one-on-one session with their photographers after getting ready. So many brides aren’t very comfortable in front of a camera and I believe this is a great way to loosen them up and to not feel so nervous about having cameras pointed at them all day. They get to be a model and have fun with posing before all of the craziness begins, giving them time to relax. Doing this in the morning before the ceremony also gives them time without an audience and without feeling rushed to see family and friends. It allows them a chance to fully embrace that they are a stunning princess who is about to be a queen.
We also wanted to show off this chic Davie and Chiyo gown in the lush Loft Garden Oasis. Davie and Chiyo are a local wedding gown designer and Vancouver is all about supporting local businesses. While location scouting we found that the nearly 200 plants in the Loft Garden Oasis were the perfect compliments for such an elegant dress.
Another one of our purposes for this styled shoot was to encourage brides to explore more location options for where they get ready for their big day. Imagine preparing for your wedding day surrounded by countless tropical plants with the morning sunlight shining on you from floor to ceiling windows. That beats almost any hotel room I know of. Starting their day in such a peaceful environment would be a great way to calm any nerves about everything being perfect. While also giving brides luxury magazine-worthy photos.
