In the 70s, people were stranded in disco, caught in wild dance parties in dark places with flashing bulbs. There was no thought or conscience or regard for tomorrow. It was pure, magical, and fun. In this wedding styled shoot, disco is recreated in Westcliffe, Colorado’s first International Dark Sky Community, where the sky is darker and the stars are brighter than almost everywhere else in the world, making for a natural reproduction of the disco hall in Colorado style.
Inspiration came from the blues, reds, and overall shimmer that ruled the disco decade. And everything is loose—from the flowers to the lights. There are disco balls and shimmering skates, a 70s inspired pantsuit and blue eye shadow for the bride, and lots of fringe. This shoot is a mix of vintage and fun, a throwback to a wilder time, and it is all shot against the backdrop of the Wet Mountain Valley, a place with its own vintage charm and a deep connection to its wild, ranching roots.
