The Best of 2023: Wedding Dresses in the Rocky Mountains

Feature image: M. Felt Photography

Wedding dresses are a chance for brides to express themselves and their individual style, and 2023 was a year full of Rocky Mountain brides showing off their fashion sense through gorgeous gorgeous gowns.  We saw first hand just how many options there are when it comes to shape, texture, length, color, and accessories – and there’s a dream dress for every bride and every type of style out there. Each year certain trends emerge from designers and 2023 was no exception.  This year we saw  beautiful dresses for the classic bride, the modern bride, the boho bride, the city bride (etc. etc. etc.) and we’ve gathered our absolute favorites from the 2023 season in one blog.  Keep reading to find out which 30 fabulous frocks made our favs list this year!

One: Summertime Sweetheart

Jordan’s ivory linen gown is a fabric we don’t see often but definitely love.  The full skirt drapes so beautifully with this texture, and compliments the Zion desert landscape beautifully.  The scallop pleating on the sweetheart cut and the three foot ruffle train made the custom Markarian gown even more interesting and artistic. Jordan accessorized with a custom two-tier cathedral length veil with Chantilly lace trim and vintage drop earrings, helping her gown get to the top of our list.  See more of her strapless style in our Utah Spring/Summer 2023 issue.

Two: Monique in Montana

The vision for Hannah & Milan’s wedding day was “harvest-inspired” and “bountiful summer”, and Hannah’s unique, subtly-floral, and ruffle-necked Monique Lhuillier gown added whimsy to the natural & warm vibe.  This bride looked beautiful in Bozeman with her balloon sleeves and burgundy bouquet.  More magic in this dress can be found in our Montana 2023 magazine here.

Three: Appliqué in Santa Fe

Angela stunned in an applique-covered Galia Lahav gown with a unique-cut nude bodice and sheer sleeves.  The light coming through her gown made her glow even more! See more shots of this favorite of ours in our New Mexico 2023 issue.

Four: Sweet and Simple in Calgary, Canada

Lynnea’s lovely little white dress looked like a dream against the Calgary sunset sky as she said “I do” with her groom David.  We love this one for the open back and capped sleeves, and the light simple beauty it shows.  Check out more of Lynnea’s dress in our Canada Spring/Summer 2023 issue.

Five: Highneck & High Class

Chris & Spencer’s Colorado mountain wedding was full of sophisticated elegance – right down to her classy, fitted, high-neck, lace gown.  The couple already had “love at first sight” – Chris saw Spenser in a picture and immediately reached out to their mutual friend and asked “who is she?” – but he was stunned again when he saw her walk down the aisle in this gown she found at our local favorite Little White Dress Bridal Shop.  Look at her lace a little more in their wedding day blog here.

Six: A Vision in Vancouver

Anna & Jordan wed in the heart of downtown Vancouver with a moody cocktail bar vibe reflecting their “elevated chic” personal style.  Anna’s NEWHITE gown takes elevated chic to another level, with its’ satin fabric and off-the-shoulder long sleeves.   Check out more of her cool-girl dress in our Canada Fall/Winter 2023 issue.

Seven: “V” for Very Beautiful!

Julie & Jesse were “just married” in an intimate ceremony at the Denver Courthouse, but snapped some dreamy photos in the Bighorn Basin in their best attire.  Julie’s deep V Berta dress helps reflect how deep the couple’s love is. We loved this gown so much we showed it off on our cover of the Wyoming 2023 magazine!

Eight: Lace by Lahav

Lauren’s long-sleeved lace gown by Galia Lahav looked “ooh la la” on her!  The beaded detail brought this dress from Little White Dress bridal shop to the top of our list.  See more of what she donned in Denver in our RMB National issue.

Nine: Southwest Seashell

We’re adding another gorgeous Markarian gown to our list, and for very (obvious) good reason.  Allison left us in awe in this strapless, organic A-line dress with a fitted waist bodice complete with a minimalist sparkly belt.   The shape of the top looked almost like a seashell, giving a natural feel to her look.  She (this dress!) stood out in Santa Fe and stands out on our list!  See more of her Southwest style in our New Mexico 2023 magazine.

Fourteen: Ruffles with Loeffler Randall

Dresses don’t have to be floor-length to make our jaws hit the floor!  Meagan’s reception ruffled mini from Odylyne the Ceremony stunned with it’s sheer off-the-shoulder sleeves and structured bodice.  She brought the best out of this dress in British Columbia with some bridal white Loeffler Randall heels.

London & Ethan’s love was shown off in Huxley, Alberta.  The wedding aesthetic embraced a timeless blend of classic romanticism, infused with a moody and vintage vibe.  London’s Vagabond Bridal gown gave the same feel – with timeless satin and a simple shape, yet unique textured sleeves for a dramatic effect.  View more of her vision of a dress in our Canada Fall/Winter issue.

Twenty-Two: Best of Bustier

This V. Chapman structured yet silhouette gown gives the right amount of “sexy” to sail to the top of our favorites from this year.  We love the modern peplum detail, the bustier top, and the long slit.  In this case, different is definitely good!  See more style from this shoot in our Utah Fall/Winter 2023 issue.

Twenty-Three: Satin with Snowcaps

Heidi & Zach hit the lottery with their “love at first sight” story, and then their dream of having snow-capped mountains on their wedding day came true, too!  Another dream came true when Heidi found this Danielle Frankel dress for their intimate, meaningful celebration in the mountains.  Her Galia Lahav veil trailed behind as the perfect accent to the perfect dress.  Swoon over this one some more by swiping through our Colorado Fall/Winter 2023 issue.

Twenty-Four: Shiny Satin in September

Caitlin & Ivey’s love story began at a French cafe in California, journeyed to Joshua Tree where the couple got engaged, and then moved to matrimony in Conifer, Colorado – so this couple knows a thing or two about beauty.  Speaking of beauty, Caitlin’s Markarian gown literally shined, in both natural outdoor light on a mountain top and indoor in the flash.   See more proof of why we love this dress in our Colorado Fall/Winter 2023 issue.
