Love Story
Our love story takes place over many years and many states! Brian and I both grew up in Minnesota, we met in high school but after losing touch, reconnected several years later during a spontaneous weekend in Montana. During that trip out West, we spent a few days in Glacier National Park – hiking, rafting, exploring and falling in love with the scenery and each other. After getting engaged, our dream was to return to Montana to get married. All of our favorite people, in our favorite place, it doesn’t get better than that! We found White Raven, the most perfect venue in Alberton, but since Glacier is such a special place for us, we knew it had to be a part of our special day in some way. We planned to extend the celebration and spend a few nights in Glacier with our friends and family. Aleks and I connected immediately and Brian and I were absolutely thrilled when not only did Aleks say she’d be all in for photographing our wedding day but also that she would be willing to travel and take photos of us in the Park. Feeling inspired and excited about returning to Glacier as a married couple, I thought it would be an incredible gift to commission an original painting to give to Brian on our wedding day. I have an artist friend, Kelsey Shields, whose work Brian and I have always admired. I knew that I wanted a Glacier landscape and reached out to Aleks to send some photo inspiration for the painting. My hope was to have a piece created and inspired by a place we would visit while taking pictures in the Park, that way we would have this memory preserved forever! Kelsey and I went back and forth about size, medium and details and eventually we landed on a floating canvas watercolor piece of Saint Mary Lake. Kelsey is wildly talented and captured the details of Wild Goose Island, the lake’s centerpiece, as well as Little Chief Mountain in the background, all from a photo taken by Aleks. I couldn’t wait to give Brian this special gift! It was so tough to keep it a secret. After careful planning to get it to Montana from Colorado, I was bursting with joy and excitement getting to watch him open such a special keepsake that was created with so much love and intention! So many special and memorable moments from our wedding weekend, but getting to take pictures with the piece in the very spot that inspired it, was a true full circle moment. I feel so grateful for both Aleks and Kelsey for working together to make this vision come to life and truly make a dream come true. This piece of art hangs in our bedroom, above our bed, as the most special reminder of our weekend and all of the adventures ahead.
