Ethan and I have been together for five years and have a three year old daughter together named Lumen. We kept planning to get engaged, but we kept moving or starting new jobs, or a million other things kept coming up that seemed more pressing. On May 7th, 2019 we went to see The Killers in OKC. The Killers hold a lot of significance to me, so I had a good idea what Ethan had planned. It was May in Oklahoma so it was hot and muggy, but are tickets were incredible and right by the stage at the Zoo amphitheater which is an outdoor venue. About half way through the show it started to sprinkle and by the last set it was a full on torrential downpour. Still the best concert I’ve ever been to. As we made a mad dash through the rain back to the car I was a little disappointed that Ethan never popped the question. We stopped at a gas station to grab some snacks and head home. Just when I thought I had totally miscalculated the night Ethan proposed right in front of the soda fountain. It was absolutely perfect.
Much like our engagement the wedding kept getting put off. We couldn’t really decide if we wanted a wedding or not, and then COVID kind of decided for us. Our first date was actually a week long trip to Colorado, so it only seemed fitting to get married there as well. We just wanted to have a good time with some close family and friends. We really wanted to showcase the beauty of the mountains and just let the landscape be the star of the show. It was a bit of a challenge location scouting from Oklahoma, but Lizzy recommended Blue Lakes and it seemed like exactly what we had in mind. Blue Lakes at sunset was an absolute dream.
