New Mexico Real Wedding

The Couple

Christian + Cymone

Christian and Cymone met in 2017 when they were introduced by a mutual friend in Albuquerque. At the time, Cymone was starting her business and Christian was looking for someone to help with managing household logistics and cleaning due to the sudden and recent death of his fiancé.At the time, she was a single mom with 2 elementary age children, and he had 2 high school aged kids of his own.Over the ensuing months, they become close friends and shared many conversations as Christian was working full time and pursuing his MBA.They both enjoyed outdoor adventures such as hiking and ziplining. Being “foodies”, they would meet at different restaurants for laughs and time together over lunch and dinner.

What started out as business relationship grew into a friendship and took a turn when Christian asked Cymone out on an official date. He planned for some axe throwing at ABQ Axe along with a fun evening of live music and dancing at the Zinc Bar.  During that time, they were both in the dating scene, but it wasn’t long before they both realized that maybe the one they were looking for was right in front of them all this time! Despite a 22 year age gap, they threw all the social stigmas out the window and decided to let love guide them wherever it may lead.

In the summer of 2020, they moved in together and in October they got engaged in Telluride, Colorado. Due to the pandemic, they originally thought they would have a simple wedding in the backyard with 2 witnesses and a preacher. However, that idea got scrapped when Cymone began to think about how she wanted to remember her big wedding day, especially since this was her first and only wedding. As fate would have it, they were enjoying a lovely day and a glass of wine at Casa Rondena Winery in Albuquerque, when Cymone had an epiphany.  She said, “We were in this beautiful vineyard enjoying a glass of wine and I turned to Christian and said, wouldn’t this be a gorgeous venue to have a wedding?”

After canceling and rearranging wedding plans three different times due to Covid, they finally settled on a date in mid-November. From that moment, the race was on to find a dress, pastor, cake, tux’s, gifts, and do all the planning. They said it was crazy but totally worth it! In the end, the wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful as they were surrounded by a small group of family to exchange their vows outdoors under a beautiful blue New Mexico sky. They were married on Saturday, November 14, one day before NM went into a pandemic lockdown, which ended up lasting well into 2021. Cymone said it was stressful as they weren’t sure if the wedding was going to be canceled when the Governor announced the lockdown 1 week before their wedding day, but in the end, everything worked out perfectly as she got her dream wedding, which was one of the last ones in NM for 2020. Three and a half years after initially meeting and overcoming many obstacles, perhaps some things are just meant to be. As Cymone’s grandmother would say, “Viva el Amor – Long Live Love!”
