“Proposal Story”

It was February 2^nd, 2019, we were both in the midst of a very busy semester and only a few days away from our 3 ½ year anniversary. Earlier that morning, Tyler surprised me with breakfast and flowers, telling me it was because we had both been working so hard and he wanted a romantic date day together if only I knew what he had in store! We decided to go hiking since it’s something we have always loved to do together and set off for Rocky Mountain National Park. When we arrived, snow was starting to fall, and we set off toward Emerald Lake since it was a hike we had never done together before. As we hiked up the trail, the weather started to get worse and I could sense Tyler’s anticipation. I remember praying “Please let the weather stop for just a few minutes” because I was hoping today might be the day! As we reached the top the wind was whipping and the snow was heavy, Tyler said we should turn around and reluctantly I agreed. As we hiked down, we got to a point where the wind quieted and the trees opened to give a picture-perfect view of the snow-covered peaks. As I turned around Tyler grabbed my hands and got down on one knee. I honestly hardly remember the words he said in those next few moments as it felt like the world stood still. Then came the words “Will you marry me?” and of course I said Yes! By coincidence a photographer was hiking up the trail right at the moment Tyler proposed and caught the whole moment on his Go Pro. It was one of the most beautiful, snowy, surreal days, and one I will treasure forever.
