We met working as servers at a restaurant. We began working on opening a business together and from the start of that whole journey Brian was love struck…it took me a little longer to realize what I had in front of me – but not too much longer!! From the beginning, we had a fun, loving, committed relationship that has only grown over the years.
We both knew we would get married someday, but I had NO idea Brian was taking that idea seriously until he popped the question on our first ever trip out of the country to Belize! I found out later he had been planning it with my family and his for over a year, and despite our closeness, I was completely surprised. I wish we could go back to that vacation all the time!
One thing that makes our wedding so special to us, besides the long journey it took to get there, was the fact that we got to share one of our favorite places in Colorado (as well as our home!) with all of our loved ones. Any Colorado mountain town would have made for a beautiful setting for a wedding, but Steamboat Springs is where we work, live, love, and play! Guests got to enjoy a scenic gondola ride to the top of a mountain where they were treated to views of aspen trees cut with ski runs as well as the entire Yampa Valley below. We already knew that our love and our home were special, and we finally got to share that with everyone else. One of my favorite details was the Colorado wildflower honey that we gave as wedding favors. I wanted our guests to walk away with a sweet treat that supported local businesses, and would be of use after the wedding day!
To be honest, I was fairly casual with the wedding planning process (if there is such a thing!). I did my best to explain my style and vision to the professionals and then let them work their magic. They did an amazing job bringing my wedding daydreams into reality! Even though we were engaged for a little over a year, it wasn’t until the last 7 months I really dug my heels in and started hashing out the details. We were inspired by the relaxed nature of our relationship as well as the natural beauty of our mountain top venue. We loved the green, woodsy, and romantic feel that the location provides all on its own, and we tried to emphasize that by bringing the outdoors in with lush greenery and wooden boxes.
One of my favorite details was the Colorado wildflower honey that we gave as wedding favors. The sunset from the top of the mountain was also absolutely stunning.
