Brent and I got engaged at the base of Mount Quandary at the end of July. The mountains have always held such a special place for us both and Brent had never climbed a 14er before so we decided to take a weekend outside of Breck and climb his first. He seemed overly excited that morning, waking me up 2 hours before our alarms, but I just assumed he was excited about the hike. When we got to the base of Quandary, was hiked up a bit until Brent said he had to use the restroom before we continued. I was going to wait on the trail, but he asked me to come with him, which I thought was odd. I was looking down as I walked down to where he was and when I got to him, I looked up and he was down on one knee with the ring asking, “Will you marry me?” Looking back at the video – (he was wearing his go-pro, another sign that should have tipped me off that this was more than just a regular hike) – he had to remind me to say yes, I just took the ring, lunged at him, and kept asking, “Are you serious?” To which he replied, “Yes, but you haven’t given me an answer yet.” We were so thrilled, we never finished the hike, but instead hiked down to where we had cell service to be able to FaceTime our families and opted for champagne and lunch at TBar in Breckenridge. So when it came to wedding planning, we knew Breckenridge was the place for us to celebrate with our families and loved ones. Also, when thinking of a place to take our engagement pictures, we wanted to capture the beautiful mountains that are so special to us living here in Colorado and prayed for the snow to make them seem even more magical. Our photographer, Sarah, did an amazing job picking a location outside of Boulder that was truly breathtaking and a date in December that gave us the snow we wanted. She even got stuck on the mountain with us waiting for a snowplow to help us get down! Sarah gave us everything we’d hoped for, neither of us feels very photogenic, but she managed to give us images that capture not only the beautiful scenery but our love for each other. For that, and more, we’re so grateful.
