Smokey Banff Springs Wedding

Love Story

Lucas and Brianne first met in junior high school, where they shared the same grade eight homeroom. After years of friendship, they began dating in high school and have been inseparable ever since. Over the years, they have had the opportunity to grow alongside each other and challenge each other to develop into the people they are today. They currently live in Vancouver, completing their studies. (Lucas is becoming an Accountant; Brianne is becoming a Naturopathic Doctor)

On a trip to Banff, one of their favorite Rocky Mountain getaway spots, Lucas popped the question. It was truly a fairytale moment as Lucas knelt down on one knee (over the frozen lake at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise) and light fluffy snowflakes fell from the night sky. It was the perfect night.

Lucas and I have always loved the mountains and share many memories together in the Rocky Mountains. And to be honest, it has always been a dream of mine to get married in the mountains at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel. I have loved this castle in the mountains since I can remember and couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place to marry my best friend.

Our wedding day ended up being quite smoky with all the forest fires this past summer. It wasn’t the “picture perfect” day in the mountains I had pictured for our wedding day but in the end, it turned out beautifully and I couldn’t have asked for anything else. Our photographer was incredible and made both Lucas and I, along with our wedding party, feel so comfortable and natural. She captured the day perfectly and used the smoky backdrop to our advantage.

Funny memory: It ended up being a little windy for the ceremony and during my walk down the aisle with my Dad, the wind picked up and blew my veil right out of my head. It went floating off into the forest, thankfully getting caught around a lamp pole. I just remember feeling it getting ripped out of my hair and looking at my Dad like “what do we do”?! He had the same look on his face and we just laughed at each other and kept going. A true mountain moment.

Day of vision/style: We wanted the day to be elegant, romantic & fun and share our love for the mountains with our guests. We wanted our wedding day to combine some of our favorite things…the mountains, good food, great drinks, and our closest friends and family!
