Megan + Scott
Meg told me she wanted to elope in early July (a little under two months before their elopement) and, being a childhood friend who had always talked about the big dream wedding, she shocked the pants off me! With no plans other than they had planned to hike Mount Assiniboine over 4 days and were considering eloping the day after they returned from the trail. What badasses my dear friend and her Australian beau are! Although they had agreed they would have no engagement as this was planned as a true elopement in complete secrecy, it turns out Megan and Scott actually had a 4 day engagement starting with Scott dropping to his knee, backpack secured and hiking boots laced up at the trail head, and proposed to Megan’s surprise and excitement! Presenting her with a gorgeous ring that she likes to tease him she had to bare the extra weight of on their long hike ahead! I met Megan, Scott, Katherine (MOH) and Mike (BM) after they came down from the trail in Canmore, euphoric and excited for the final leg of their trip the following morning! After the getting ready festivities we met for an emotional first look at the gorgeous Spray Lakes before heading “OFF TO THE CHOPPA!” and fly back to the very trails they had just been hiking on to say their vows on the shores of the tranquil Cabin Lake atop the towering Mount Assiniboine. The jaw dropping views throughout the beautiful flight were taken in amid excited chatter over headsets and we all but ran down the trail to the lake after we touched down. Katherine, the Maid of Honour, played the violin as Megan walked towards Scott and there was not a dry eye in the valley. They said their vows in a heart warming ceremony amid the wild flowers with only their closest friends, the mountains and the birds watching. It was spectacular.
