Say “Bonjour” to Sophisticated Wedding Inspo from this French-Forward Styled Shoot

Come with us to Calgary, Canada as we ooh and ahh at the “Ooh La La” that Raven Alexandra Signature Weddings, Justine Milton Photography, and this creative team of vendors who put together a sophisticated styled shoot transporting us to the South of France.  The shoot was inspired by the essence of refined modernity paired with intentional design, which you’ll see throughout the details of the day.  Keep reading to gather some design and style inspiration for an elegant & fashionable wedding day!

The Paper

PaperOcelot Studios designed an invitation suite that would catch guests attention at first opening.  The swirling calligraphy, wax seals, illustrations, and golden tassels are a few extra delicate details this stationer included to reflect “refined” in the first impression of the day.  The blush tones with striking black throughout add modernity to the suite and thus the entire feel of the day.  PaperOcelot also provided the other stationery throughout the shoot, including the daintiest escort cards of which we adore!

The Venue

Set in the heart of Calgary, Fairmont Palliser is one of the city’s oldest and most luxurious hotels.  This team could not have picked a better spot to give contemporary Parisian-vibes right in downtown Calgary while having a blank canvas look to bring any design dream to life.  Imagine having the charm of a historic building with the beauty of its’ modern updates and floor-to-ceiling windows to help you plan the perfect intimate wedding day with 100 of your favorite people!

The Bridal Look

The lovely “bride” looked oh-so romantic in her lace robe and lingerie set before donning the dress for the day.  In this styled shoot, the team took the opportunity to show how beautiful one can feel if they decide to take some intimate boudoir photos before the big day.  Then, the bride changed into a gorgeous structured-bodice gown from Chosen by KYHA – an Australian designer known for pushing the boundaries of bridal design.  Nothing says sophisticated quite like having a dress no one else will have!  Our favorite part is the detachable sleeves, for a quick little outfit change to wow guests even further.  The beauty team, Blush & Coco., served up some Old-Hollywood glamour on the bride with a sleek updo to complete the look.  The pearl-studded heels from Bella Belle are the cherry on top to this elegant yet modern look, but the 3.5 carat radiant cut ring from Alberta Diamond Exchange might just take the whole cake!

The Flowers

Twig & Bloom brought the venue to life with autumnal-toned fresh flowers throughout.  The spiral floral installation was the focal point of the day, and an eye catching install like this doesn’t have to have just one moment on the day.  Talk to your florist about repurposing ceremony florals during the reception where they’ll look completely new behind a sweetheart table, cake cutting, or photo booth backdrop.

The End

Have your cake, and drink it too!  This styled shoot showed that you don’t have to choose between a grand-moment cake cutting and a champagne tower pour, have them both if you please because you’re worth celebrating!  This two-tiered confection wrapped in white buttercream was created by the catering team at Fairmont Palliser and designed to compliment the bride’s gown.  No detail went overlooked in this styled shoot, and your wedding day can be just as thoughtfully curated too.
