The Couple’s Love Story:

Freshman year I remember meeting Austin and thinking this man is so quiet and kind. From what seemed like would be a one-time encounter turned into a whole year of Austin and I spending a lot of time together. When summer came and it was time to tell Austin goodbye, I remember being so sad that I would not see him for a while. The day he left for Texas I remember he came to tell me goodbye and I felt like my heart was breaking. At the time we were just friends so I told him goodbye and I remember crying when I closed the door as he walked away. Luckily, my sadness quickly faded because Mallory and I were headed to Spain for the summer. Every day, Austin would Facetime us to see how we were doing. Sooner or later summer came to an end and it was time to go back to school. I asked him to meet me at the duck pond. At the duck pond, we sat by the water and I pulled him in to tell him that I loved him and sealed it with a kiss. We have been together ever since!

The Proposal:

This past summer, Austin and I went on a European adventure. Austin was studying abroad in Spain and I decided to tag along just to have fun. I loved showing Austin my favorite place in the whole world. From Austin learning Spanish and his sister Ashton taking us on adventures, we truly did have the most amazing time. When we arrived in Santorini and I was able to take in the gorgeous view I cried. I told Austin that I felt so lucky to be in the most beautiful place in the world with the love of my life. Little did I know, that would only be the beginning of my tears for the weekend.

When we arrived at our final destination I was amazed to find that we would be staying in a restored mansion that housed the owner’s private art collection. The owner of the hotel immediately extended his hospitality by giving us a tour of the whole mansion allowing us to meet all of the staff including the onsite chef. He also took the time to show us the art that was in our room. One piece was made by Picasso! The meaning of the art was so moving and I truly felt like I was at a private gallery viewing.

After getting a tour, Austin told me to put on my best dress because we were going to meet our friends at dinner. While I was getting ready, Austin told me that he would be on the patio grabbing a drink and to meet him as soon as I was ready. When I was ready, I walked out to the beautiful Grecian sunset and saw Austin sitting on the terrace with a ukulele. This really wasn’t out of the ordinary because Austin had bought a ukulele in Thiera and told me that he was going to make a music video with the Greek sunset, typical Austin.

I was shocked when Austin started singing my favorite song in the world, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” I was moved to tears and It truly was the most beautiful moment of my life. After he finished singing he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. That moment in time will forever be engraved in my heart as it truly took my breath away. What a beautiful way to start off an eternity with my best friend!
