Inspiration Behind the Shoot

From the Photographer

I relocated to Colorado three years ago, and have fallen in love with this great state and the amazing community of Boulder. One of the first places I ventured to was Lost Gulch, and it was absolutely breathtaking. I promised myself I would return someday for a styled shoot in that exact location. As a few years passed, I couldn't help myself but feel so grateful for this community that has embraced my work. Boulder is filled with amazing creatives, and I wanted to express my gratitude with a Tribute to Boulder' styled wedding. With embracing all that Boulder has to offer, we strove to reflect an intimate elopement ambiance.

There is something to be said for the beautiful foothills that this town sits upon. The evening began with a stroll to Boxcar Coffee to enjoy an intimate moment with the couple. Boxcar Coffee is a locals' choice for excellent coffee, as well as a popular gathering spot on Pearl Street. It feels like a focal point for the creatives in town who gather there to work and collaborate on events. Through the winding roads past Chautauqua Park, near the crest of the first peak of the foothills, you come to Lost Gulch lookout that opens to the vast vista of the Rocky Mountains. With the sun setting, I wanted to highlight the Rocky Mountain range at dusk. We topped the night off with a modern rustic naked cake, along with a cheers to our amazing Colorado surroundings as the sun set over the continental divide.

Almost every detail is credited to Boulder creatives: the cake, the jewelry, the custom veil and gowns, florals, nails, and even the couple (the groom grew up in Boulder). The entire day was magical, but a few details really stood out that reflected our impressive community. Maggie Evans of Maggie Evans Designs provided her one-of-a-kind custom gowns and helped complete my vision of a flowing veil that swept across the Rocky Mountains. Lara of Fiori Flowers created an amazing bouquet showcasing the incredible protea flower as the focal point, surrounded by delicate garden roses, tulips, and baby kale leaves! The bouquet cascaded with greenery and avalanching amaranthus to create an organic and relaxed feel. Throughout the styled collaboration my heart swelled with gratitude for this community and the opportunity to work with such unique Boulder creatives.
