Love Story

Nelson and I first met in 2013 at a bull riding in Fort St. John through a friend. We briefly chatted about horses and such and as the evening ended we went our separate ways. We ran into each other again that fall in Edmonton at the Canadian Finals Rodeo and I bought him a drink. We spent the night dancing but again our time ended and we said our goodbyes. 2 months later he got my number from a client who also was his team roping partner. He called me for 'an appointment' {I literally couldn't get him in for over 3 months} and then he asked me out...I was surprised and said sarcastically, "Sure if I'm ever in Buck Lake haha". He was persistent, I was stubborn, but eventually about a month later I agreed to go out with him. He flew me to Edmonton where we had our first date and have been together ever since. We were long distance for almost 3 years, and this previous December I moved to the ranch, and here we are....Hitched!

~ Kelsey & Nelson

Nelson and Kelsey have a love story that will truly last the test of time. Their wedding day was so perfectly reflective of both of their styles and who they are as a couple. On August 25th, 2017 these two amazing people made it official. Kelsey  has a love for travel, adventure and sports but most importantly she has an unmatchable passion for helping people and animals. Nelson has a strong love for ranching and hunting and together they raise cattle, adventure in the mountain by horseback and spend time with their beloved dogs and horses. All of these passions were inspiration for their wedding day and helped to create the wedding of their dreams.

Kelsey and Nelson spent their wedding day morning among friends and family as they sipped champagne and calmly waited for the moment when they would become husband and wife. As they made their entrance into the ceremony on horseback, the groom and his father {a recently retired Canadian RCMP officer} rode in to "Letters from Home" by John Michael Montgomery, a song that brought with it tears and emotions. Kelsey's niece and nephew walked in the couples beautiful dogs, Tank and Clyde, who were also their adorable ring bearers. The couples grandmothers, whom are incredibly loved and adored, graced the aisle as their flower "girls" as they tossed petals from the brides late grandfathers Stetsons and it was perfect!

"Mean to Me" by Brett Aldridge brought chills as Kelsey walked down on the arm of her father, wearing a tie that was hand sewn by the bride with the words I love you daddy. Kelsey wore the beautiful Halo by Hayley Paige and accessorized it perfectly with her mother's pearls and a "borrowed" bracelet from her aunt. Greeted by a gorgeous custom made wooden arbour, and her handsome groom, Kelsey was absolutely radiant.

Surrounded by their dearest friends and family, Kelsey and Nelson's ceremony was full of love, laughter and beautiful tears. One of my favourite aspects of their ceremony was when the officiant had the rings circle through the guests and as they held them they were asked to put love and well wishes into each ring. Kelsey and Nelson read their own vows to each other, both laughing and crying with happiness throughout and as they united forever as one they branded a piece of wood with their initials. Once branded it cannot be undone, signifying the love that burns for each other and to always know their way back home. And as the couple stood under their wooden arbor covered in beautiful flowers and antlers the groom dipped the bride for their first kiss as "Sign Sealed Delivered" by Stevie Wonder played and they were announced as husband and wife.

The beautiful reception was held on the same property where they had just promised forever, the bride's parents home. Each reception table donned sheds and antlers from Kelsey and Nelsons home. A traditional wedding cake was forgone for an amazing donut display wall covered in yummy treats.   Dreams catchers made by Kelsey, from Nelson's lariets and feathers from their own turkeys, hung all around the reception and were the perfect addition to the space. The reception truly was the perfect combination of country home and classic elegance. Every aspect was personal and well thought out and the room was filled with so much love it was felt by every soul. There were stories, memories and soulful words spoken that were the perfect reflection and tribute to this amazing couple!
