Wyoming Wedding
The Couple
Jess + Isaac
Love Story
“I moved out to Salt Lake beginning of 2018 for work, after previously doing an internship the summer before and falling in love with the west. Isaac had accepted a position as a Hot Shot Wildland firefighter in Salt Lake and moved there April of 2018 for work too. Neither of us had ever moved that far away or to a big city. Of course moving to a new city, I thought I needed to be on dating apps. After a few months, and a few bad dates, I deleted all apps. One day I was at my friends and she told me to just re-download bumble already…. That night I connected with Isaac, I messaged him and we talked all the next day. My very first message was a response to his bio about drinking cold beer and exploring the mountains. We promised we’d start a brewery at the top of a mountain some day, I hope that dream lives on. We went on a date the next day, to a bar called Beer Hive in Salt Lake. I was so nervous when I pulled up and saw him waiting for me outside that I only put in for 1 hour of parking in the meter and had to redo it for more time. That first date we sat at the bar talking for hours, it was so easy!!! At one point he got up and whispered in my ear “If i don’t come back, it’s because this date just really sucked” and he walked off (to the bathroom). Of course he came back like 2 minutes later and grabbed my hand asking if I like cheesecake. I was HOOKED. Cheesy I know, but a sense of humor is a win. We walked to Cheesecake Factory and split a piece of cheesecake, then to an outdoor concert downtown and listened to some live music, and then he ended the night kissing me at my car. We had dates the next 2 nights too. At first I thought “wow this guy doesn’t waste time” but it was on our second date I found out more about what he does for a career. He’s a wildland firefighter and between every 2 weeks fighting fires, he would get 2-3 days off. It just so happened he had those days off when we first started talking. After 3 dates, he left for 2 weeks. When he came back, we were glued together for the next 2 days off. It was then I knew. I just knew.”
