How Did He Propose?
It was on November 18, 2016… he had asked me if I wanted to go to dinner in red lodge and to make a reservation at the rock creek resort. Old Piney Dell. It didn’t really occur to me that this could be the night he finally proposes. We had plans and this wasn’t one right now or this year I thought. But of course, I was curious! We had a very new baby just barely 2 months old so we haven’t been out together for a while, just thought it was going to be a nice evening just us two. It was freezing and lots of snow that night, we get to The Rock Creek and he wanted to walk down by the river. I didn’t think much of it cuz usually we like to walk down to the river anywhere to check the water out! The snow was deep then Tyler started to talk about us, the future and then he said you know this is the first place I told you I love you… I said yes and then he said well it only seems right if I tell you I love you now more then ever and then he got down on his knee in the deep snow and asked me to marry him! It was incredible. And not planned to be as romantic as it was he always says. But it was nothing short of it! The lights were strung and twinkling around the trees the restaurant we were about to go eat in was doing a 5-course meal and wine pairing! It couldn’t have been more perfect. I always say when people ask me where or how did he propose…well he took me back to where he first told me he loved me.
Why did you choose the style you did? Where did that inspiration come from?
We chose the style we did because it represents both of us. The colors and the western feel tied together nicely. I like deeper romantic colors and wine of course! Our families rodeo, raise cattle and farm. Our biggest inspiration for everything is always Pendleton and Ralph Lauren and we love the western rustic style in it.
What turned out to be one of your favorite design element?
My favorite design element was probably our ceremony arch! It was so beautiful! The wine barrels were fantastic also! If I could have a second choice it would be the drapes and the focal point of the steering head on the fireplace! It was all so wonderful it’s hard to pick a favorite!
What was a memorable moment from your day?
Had to be just knowing at the end of the day I was finally going to be a Johnston and that I married my best friend, the father of our sweet little boy who now I get to call my husband! Doesn’t get much better than that. It was truly was an incredible day and I’ll always feel forever grateful for everyone who came and helped make this day everything we hoped!
