Michelle + Ryan
I’ve photographed a lot of weddings over the years, so I had a pretty good sense of how I wanted the day to look and feel. The most important thing to me was that it felt like us. I wanted our people to walk into our backyard and feel at home – cozy, welcome and loved. We curated comfy seating arrangements around two different fire pits and lined the wood fence with artwork (it was an intentionally eclectic collection of pieces, most of which were made by our family and friends). I made all the signage myself because I love a project and because I wanted the day to be ours – made by our hands. We loved every aspect of our big day (especially the part where we got married!!!) but a special highlight was the amazing helicopter ride we took with Librico Helicopters. Ryan has two little boys and we wanted to have something that would make the day exciting and special for them too. So, we decided on a helicopter ride! Our pilot, John, was incredible. He flew us up to Spencer Peak and the boys were beside themselves excited! They explored and threw rocks into the valley while Ryan and I took photos with the amazing, Justine Russo. It was perfect.

Ryan and Michelle were so intentional with every part of their day. It was unique to them, and they made sure to create space for the two of them, and Ryan’s two boys to celebrate the 4 of them. I don’t think I have ever had that many tears during speeches either. The words said to describe these two were so incredible and heartfelt. You could feel how much love there was for them in that space.
