Petyo Lake Intimate Mountaintop Elopement

Elopement Inspiration

Breathing in fresh mountain air, holding the hand of your lover, and reciting vows that leave everyone in tears. This in fact was a styled shoot – but there was so much more going on between these two than I could have ever known. Spencer & Shelby – just dating at the time shared such chemistry – the way they cared for each other in the little moments, the way they embraced each othe r- it was tangible, it was real, it was love. We collaborated with a local calligraphist – and she designed the handwritten vows. Rather than having Spencer & Shelby read of generic vows to each other – I asked them for something more. I asked them to share their proudest moments with each other, the reason they fell in love. This is when we found ourselves standing on the edge of Lake Peyto, crying ALL of the happy tears. In this moment, it dawned on me that it wasn’t about the incredible gown or the jaw-dropping views. What it was about was fostering an environment where love can flourish. And on this day – it did. I am so happy I was able to witness this and capture the intimacy that was shared on this mountain. Fast forward 2 weeks later and Shelby and Spencer are engaged – I can’t help but know deep in my heart that the moments they shared on this day played a roll in them saying “Oh ya- I could do this forever.”
