Paradise Valley Winter Engagement

Love story

We met on a camping trip our freshman year at Northwestern and immediately became best friends. We were best friends for 3 years in college, rarely seen one without the other, we would even spend our summers together, going on camping trips, rock climbing, doing a NOLS course in Lander, WY, etc. The timing was never right – even though we had feelings for each other we remained friends. We ended up living together senior year with a few other friends and that’s when things hit a boiling point. Nick finally confessed his love to McCall in 2011 right before graduation and they have been together, and are still best friends, ever since.

For Christmas Nick surprised McCall with tickets to Iceland that spring. When they arrived in Reykjavik he took her to a black sand beach and proposed to her amid the crashing waves. The ring was an untreated Montana sapphire in a setting he had designed. He had hired a local landscape photographer and they spent the day driving around beautiful vistas in Iceland together.
