Nicole + Kristofer
When it all began, our wedding was set to take place in rural Vermont, nearby the New England towns in which we grew up and where many of our friends and family still live today. However, like many other plans in 2020, this one was destined to change. After much debate amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, we concluded that a small wedding close to our home here in Colorado was all that would be possible. From COVID-19 turning the world upside down, to the Glenwood fires raging at the foot of our valley, adversity met with agility was the theme. We were kept on our toes even right up to the day, when for the first time all summer, we woke up to the sound of rain coming down in buckets outside.
Months before our wedding, we held a clear vision of how the day was going to play out and we were convinced that nothing could stand in our way. When the day finally came, the only thing that was hard to believe was that we had ever told ourselves that.
What came to be was a vision that no one could have imagined but perfect in it’s own way. Come ceremony time, the rain subsided after giving a much needed soak to the burnt land, the clouds parted and a rainbow painted the sky (true story). It was a day filled to the brim with love shared among our closest (though physically distanced) friends and family both near and far.
The universe will always have it’s twists and turns. Taking a step back from the noise, we came to embrace and appreciate the curveballs life inevitably throws at us (even on our wedding day). Looking at the big picture, our life, our partnership, our love and support for each other is what made this day come to life in the most magical way.
