Green Wedding Inspiration
Harmony. Renewal. Growth. Luck.
Milk Glass Productions worked with an incredible wedding vendor team for the fourth color in the Monochromatic Color Series. They chose to represent green color palette with the Indian culture which couldn’t have been more perfect.
Bride and Groom Attire
“Depending on the region, an Indian bride would wear either a bridal saree or a lehenga. We chose a bridal lehenga, which is an ankle-length skirt typically ornamented with embroidery and intricate designs and is paired with a coordinating blouse, called a choli, and a dupatta which is draped over the head and shoulders.
Brides are adorned with jewelry from head to toe. Bangles which are often gold, glass or diamond-stuffed symbolize luck, fertility, and safety. Henna, which is applied the day before the wedding, at a Mehndi ceremony, symbolizes beauty, joy, and spiritual awakening. Maang Tikka, a head piece that is typically coordinated to match the necklaces and earrings work, bestows the wearer with will and wisdom to embrace their marriage journey.” – Tomi, Milk Glass Productions
Typically, brides in the Indian culture are known to wear the color red, however, yellow, orange, pink, and green are more modern takes. Color is in!
Grooms can wear a sherwani or bandhgala suit. A popular color choice for Indian grooms is either gold, white, or a color that is complementary to the bride. We chose a sherwani which is a knee-length, button-down jacket worn over a collarless shirt called a kurta. A groom will also wear coordinating jewelry, leather loafers called juttis, and a safa or turban.
The Ceremony
The florals were done by Inspired Designs and they are the star of the ceremony. The luscious, overgrown look provides a gorgeous backdrop for the couple and can be multi purposed during the reception and used as a Instagram-worthy photo backdrop for guests!
The Reception
The team at Milk Glass Productions worked Casa de Perrin to design the gorgeous tabletops below. We love the inclusion of the butterfly china dishwater because they also symbolize rebirth, growth and new beginnings. Truly, how perfect for the start of your forever with the love of your life! They paired emerald green glassware and gold candle holders with a velvet green linen from BBJ La Tavola to complete the look.
Lastly, A Cake Come True crafted an elegant 3-tier wedding cake with florals emerging from the front which mimicked the overgrown, elegant green florals used throughout the wedding ceremony and reception.
