Modern and Luminous Okanagan Elopement Inspiration

British Columbia Styled Shoot
The Inspiration
Our shoot came from a desire for connection and creativity after an isolating time. The day started out stormy, with quick floods happening in Kelowna and heavy rain and thunder following us down south to Summerland where our shoot was scheduled. If the current time has taught us anything it is to take the path of least resistance, so there we sat in our cars, laughing at the incredible uncertainty of life right now, even this crazy weather.
The Godards had come out for the day from the city with an incredible haul of treasures from Vancouver and this was the only day the shoot could happen. But just in perfect time, the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and the sun came out.
Collectively, we were inspired by the muted palette and natural textures of the Okanagan desert. Smokey sage set on the backdrop of the luminous lake and the rolling hills of the Okanagan Highlands. We worked with a mix of foraged brush, dried blooms, leaves and we paired them with a variety of textures; velvet napkins, warm coloured glass, gold metallics and hand made raw-edged matt grey ceramics. A mix of relaxed, natural, Okanagan bohemian with the modern luxury of the big city. We are grateful to our couple who brought this shoot to life with their real-life love and magic.
