Troy and I met through mutual friends when I came to Austin, Texas during a summer internship in college. Troy had been passing through Austin for a night on his way back to South Texas where he was studying to be a PA. We spent most of the summer trading off driving five hours every weekend just to see each other for only 24 hours at a time before I had to go back to Ohio State in the fall. We stayed in touch throughout my Junior year, talking almost every day, and picked up where we left off when I returned to Austin for another internship the following summer. By then I knew I was in love with Austin and in love with Troy, and that I would move there after my last semester that fall.
After graduating, I got a job and moved to Austin as quickly as I could to be closer to Troy. Unfortunately, Troy had accepted a job with a clinic in South Texas, so we endured about two more years of long distance before he finally moved to Austin. Whether we were fishing, traveling, hiking, eating Oreos, or just walking the SPI beach, we always made sure to make our short time together as memorable as possible. To simply say that it was all worth the wait would be an understatement.
Troy planned a surprise proposal in July of 2020 at our first home together. He even waited for both of our families to be in town to witness it, making the day even more special. I’m truly blessed and excited to be marrying my best friend and to never have to do long distance again!
