Audrey + Nick
Audrey and Nick contacted me on a Sunday evening to see if I was available to photograph their elopement that coming Thursday, giving us just four days to get this magical day together. Originally, they were going to get married in California on May 23rd, but obviously 2020 had other plans for them. When they shared this with me, I knew exactly what they were going through because I was supposed to get married that day, too! I knew at this point, us working together was fate!
They, as many of my couples do, began to feel hesitation and guilt around eloping. They knew some of their favorite people wouldn’t be able to make it, and they were starting to feel some doubt. Knowing how much they clearly care for their family, meant to me, that their family cares for them just as much. So I told them that love is the only thing getting everyone through 2020 and to get married if it’s in their hearts to do so, and that they can have a party to view photos from the day and the video so that they can relive it over and over again with those people. And they were on board! I called in my friend Jes with Knotted Events Co. to make their day more special. I am adamant with all of my couples that your elopement should look and feel like MORE than just a photoshoot. Will you get gorgeous photos? Heck yes. But I want you to have an experience, too. And Jes is one heck of an experience maker! She rounded up cake, charcuterie, a venue with gorgeous views, plan a playlist catered to the couple, and even scheduled accommodations for Nick and Audrey’s five guests that flew in from California to be at the ceremony and enjoy appetizers in a meadow at a beautifully decorated table. This day turned out amazing and Audrey and Nick and their family members were all smiles throughout it. 2020 is the year that love will prevail and sometimes that means changing the plans. I’m so glad Nick and Audrey were able to stand amongst a field overlooking the Maroon Bells and say their vows in the hardest of times to do so. It is the hope we all desperately need in this time!
