Dustin and I started looking for venues not long after we got engaged and when we drove up the dirt road to Sky Ridge Ranch, we both knew that this was the place. We had even hiked one of the peaks overlooking the ranch the summer after we met! I knew I wanted a wedding that really spoke to who Dustin and I were as a couple, even if that meant skipping on a few traditions. We both have a great love of the outdoors and of Montana so I decided to use those elements, while adding a little wedding elegance. I knew I loved the simplicity of a neutral color scheme and the perfectly imperfect look of mismatched bridesmaids but wanted a little sophistication. The gold and burgundy accents in the decor and flowers felt just right. We took on a lot of DIY projects, most of which I did myself or with the help of my step-mom, Deanna.
I had a first look with my dad (Dustin didn't want to see me until the ceremony). We both cried, but it was so meaningful to have that moment with him. Fifteen minutes before the ceremony was planned to start it stopped raining and not knowing it would be done for the evening, we decided to make the most of it. Walking down the aisle to Dustin was one of the most amazing moments of my life. We both cried seeing each other for the first time and as soon as his voice cracked there wasn't a single dry eye in attendance. The clouds hanging on the mountains in the background and the colors so vivid after the rain made it all the more beautiful. Dustin and I both felt so grateful to be surrounded by our loved ones that night and truly did not want it to end!
