Paul and Kirsten are no strangers to sunrise hikes, so when Paul suggested they wake up extra early one morning, Kirsten didn’t find anything amiss. The morning of the surprise, Paul frantically texted mutual friends that served as the impromptu photographer, and with strategic planning and a little bit of luck on his side, Paul timed it perfectly and managed to not only catch the sun rising, but Kirsten by surprise. While posing for what Kirsten assumed was a casual photo, she was astonished to turn and find Paul bent on one knee.
Paul and Kirsten chose the Kananaskis Country as the stunning backdrop for their engagement session as it holds special meaning to them and they spend a fair amount of time hiking through the area. I wanted to capture their sweet and fun personalities while keeping the photos very true to their nature. For the photos on the rock, we waited for the sun to dip down below the horizon to capture the hazy golden rays that added another dimension to the vast mountainous backdrop. It was the perfect setting as their love for the mountains and each other really shined through; I couldn’t have pictured a more perfect evening as I watched Paul make Kirsten’s bubbly laughter come up again and again, the sounds of happiness being carried off into the wind of the wild mountains.
