David Byrne must have been referring to Telluride when he sang the iconic song, “This Must Be the Place.” When Zoe and Kevin told me they wanted to exchange vows in this magical little mountain town, I was in before they even finished the sentence. They chose this special destination after a year of challenging deliberation. Would they, like so many other couples in 2020, ride the storm of cancelations, or would they take their celebration into their own hands? They finally decided that a mountain-top elopement was just right for them, and asked me to photograph an intimate ceremony in Telluride. The day began with getting ready at the Madeline Hotel in Mountain Village before heading out to exchange vows on San Sophia Overlook. From there, we hopped on the gondola to take a trip downtown, where they shared a drink and talked about all the other adventures to come.
The Dinner
One month later, Zoe and Kevin invited their families for a 20-person dinner at Tavernetta — it was certainly the belated celebration they deserved! Through all the ups and downs of these past couple of years, it means the world to document these one-of-a-kind memories for my couples. Thank you, Zoe and Kevin, for inviting me to share in your beautiful Colorado wedding, especially in one of the most amazing destinations in the state!
