Rebekkah + Cory
An intimate and elegant fall wedding at Piney River Ranch in Vail, Colorado at the peak of Aspen color. This beautiful wedding features a stunning lace dress with a high Victorian-style neckline, a romantic canoe ride on the lake, thoughtful DIY guest favors, late-night s’mores around the campfire and a midnight canoe getaway for the perfect end to a perfect day!
For those who may not know our story, it all began on Facebook. That’s right, I said it, Facebook. In 2010, a group of Bradley students created a group page for its freshman class to connect before attending in the fall. It was on that page that I saw this “cute” guy make some witty and sarcastic remark, and I just had to request to be his “friend.” Thankfully, he accepted.
Cory was THAT cute sarcastic guy that I was talking about. After a few weeks of talking back and forth on messenger, we exchanged numbers and continued to chat. At some point during our phone conversations, Cory had mentioned that he and a group of his friends had previously planned a trip to Chicago and that he wanted to meet up during that time. So, he and his two friends (although they were hesitant at first) took the train to Crystal Lake. It was here that we first “met.” (This is the reason why Cory later proposed at the Train Station!)
After a group date at a local diner with a few of my friends and his friends, it was time to drive him home. On my way out of town, I stopped to get gas. I was apparently on cloud nine because I forgot to close my gas tank while fueling up. Of course, Cory had noticed it was open not even 5 minutes into the drive and I had to pull the car over and close it. I can distinctly remember how embarrassed I was that I had to get out of the car and put the cap on my gas tank, in front of a guy that I was trying to impress. I remember thinking, “this guy is going to think I am a complete idiot.” To be honest, I thought it was the end of what was about to be a great relationship. I mean, what kind of guy wants to date a blonde chick who can’t even fill her gas tank without remembering to put on the cap? Apparently, Cory.
Somewhere between meeting and talking every day, Cory and I both established a connection and we decided to make our relationship “official” not even a week into college. Although it was quick and a strange way to meet, I am so glad we did because through it all, I found my person and we’re finally getting married after 8 years together!
