Erica + Scott
Scott and I initially met at work. We always found each other attractive but never pursued a relationship romantically. We both knew we had something special when we had dinner one evening and were both giddy at the end of the night. On our first date, we went to an Italian restaurant for dinner on Commercial drive in Vancouver, British Columbia. The SkyTrain broke down and I ended up having to take the bus, delaying our date by 1.5 hours. Scott waited patiently for my arrival while his waitress thought his date stood him up. We ended the night eating gelato and the rest was history.
Scott proposed to me in Salt Spring Island during his birthday weekend celebration. I knew he was planning to do something special when he hinted that I might want to get my nails done for the weekend. On June 01, 2019 (the day after his birthday), he took me to a secluded beach. I was out searching for seaweed when I heard my name being called. When I looked up with seaweed still in my hand, I saw that he was sitting on a log with a ring box beside him. I was so excited, I immediately ran and sat him on his lap, while instantaneously asked him if he was going to get down on his knees (without realizing I was sitting on his lap lol). When I finally moved, he got down on his knees and asked me to marry him, to which I said yes!
We chose to do an elopement because we wanted something intimate and carefree. We both love to travel and ended up choosing Yoho National Park to exchange our vows. I grew up in Edmonton and often traveled to the Rockies with my family in the summer and Scott is an avid snowboarder, so its natural we chose Emerald Lake Lodge with the Rockies as the backdrop. The day of our wedding was very smoky from the wildfires from Oregon. I was equipped for potential rain but was not prepared for the heavy smoke that covered the sky. At the time, my only request to have our pictures taken in a canoe was not looking positive as the canoe company informed me earlier that they were closing early because of the smoke. However, everything worked out perfectly. Our wedding coordinator managed to track down a staff canoe and Henny worked her magic and made our wedding memorable and so dreamy.
