Brian and I met on a blind date, I know shocking! We discussed later in the relationship how we both thought to ourselves, “Ok one last date and then that’s it, single F-O-R-E-V-E-R.” Brian is an outdoorsy man; fishing, camping, and hunting, and I enjoy just being in the outdoors. So this left us with quite a bit to talk about. By the second date we both knew this was going to be one amazing adventure.
After two years of dating, our basement flooded. During the restoration of our home, we were staying with my parents in a single room with our two dogs and my 6-year-old son. We decided a much-needed weekend vacation was in order. So, we rented a hotel, got a bottle of wine, a deck of cards and enjoyed the quiet. While we were getting ready for dinner Brian asked me to turn around and close my eyes. Having NO idea what he was doing I played along and when I turned around he was on his knees. I was immediately nervous, excited, and filled with joy and then he did it. He asked me to marry him with my grandmother’s wedding ring and the rest is history.
We immediately knew we wanted to celebrate our union in my parent’s backyard surrounded by our family and friends. We had an amazing venue, florist, and photographer to help make our wedding day a memorable one. To this day we still have guest tell us “that was the best wedding we have been to” and it reminds us of how loved we are. Enjoy your new husband, family, and friends but remember it’s not about how happy your guests are it is about making a new life with someone you love and cherish. Enjoy that moment above any on your wedding day!
