Mitchell and I met in 2013 during a summer camp program that we were volunteering in. Over this three-month time period, we formed a close friendship which evolved into a liking for one another. Being only sixteen, and living in different cities with no cars of our own, the end of the program, forced us to come to an end as well. Over the following few months, we remained in contact over the phone and met up a few times at different camp reunions. After a five-month time span, we completely stopped talking and I figured my camp crush would remain to be just that. In June of 2014, Mitchell and I ended up at the same camp again for the full summer. We began to talk and catch up on each other’s past years and realized we both had never completely lost the feelings we had for one another. Three months later, Mitchell finally asked my parents if he could officially start to date me.
Today, we have been dating for three years and are full-time 21-year-old students studying nursing and social work. Our relationship has seen its highs, from traveling on a mission’s trip to Greece, and experiencing all of the teenage and young adult milestones together. We have also been through the lows, like going weeks without seeing each other due to no transportation and months of being apart from travel. Through it all, we have come out stronger and have grown not only as a couple but as individuals. It’s been an amazing journey growing alongside each other and we feel completely blessed to have found such a strong love and committed relationship at a young age. Here’s to many more years of being young and in love!
