The subject of this styled shoot was The Hive Venue – a newly constructed wedding venue in Chubbuck Idaho. We wanted to inspire real couples to see what their own weddings might look like inside this bright and open space. The Hive offered the perfect blank canvas and then we began to add in other talented vendors to elevate the venue. The inspiration was bright, simple, timeless, and elegant. We began with the ceremony set up. Simple greenery to mark the aisle and a large but delicate floral installation that was attached directly to the large sliding glass doors. Our beautiful couple relived their wedding day, as they walked down the aisle again during the week of their one year anniversary! We went for a classic black tuxedo, paired with an elegant lace dress that had plenty of movement. It was absolutely stunning to see the train of her dress + long cathedral length veil as she walked down the aisle. After our ceremony set up, we worked on the tablescape. We wanted a simple and romantic table, put together with vintage and modern elements. Our couple was excited to learn that we planned to actually cut into the cake – though it felt like a little bit of a crime to cut into such a crisp, clean, creamy cake. We obviously had to take a break to all taste test and rave over how delicious the cake was! We worked our way right through our mock wedding day, to the dance party! We turned on some LANY and our couple danced like no one else was in the room for a minute. I still love that they were actually celebrating their first year of marriage together, and it really helped to create such genuine and emotional images. We finished the evening with a flower petal confetti send-off and a ride around the parking lot in the coolest vintage white bug! The floral install from our ceremony was quickly recycled and revamped for the back of the bug and turned out perfectly. This whole shoot was an absolute dream come true. Literally!
For years I’ve been dreaming to build a wedding venue in our town that has desperately needed one. Over the past two years, we’ve planned and designed The Hive. It’s intertwined with our family story and so special to us. We’ve had our two boys during the process of designing and constructing the venue, and they feel like it’s their second home. I’ve been dreaming of my first shoot inside of The Hive since our very first meeting with the architect. To see it all finally come together and have the opportunity for so many of my worlds to collide all at once was surreal. It feels like so much more than a styled shoot. It really was a celebration of all of the hard work and time that we’ve put in coming to a close, and finally getting to celebrate our venue being able to host the biggest moments in couples’ lives.
