The Inspiration
Elopements are a trend in the wedding industry that I am currently loving. It creates an opportunity for two people to spend their special day focused on what matters most without the hustle and bustle of the traditionally large wedding day. I visited Ruidoso, New Mexico in January and found a spot that I completely fell in love with. Nestled on top of the mountain, with large open fields, was the perfect little meadow.
Setting up a styled elopement had been a vision of mine for a very long time. I wanted to try my hand at styling and creating something from scratch. I found the perfect real couple, and although they were not actually married, they were so in love that it was perfect. After asking a group of other creative gals to work alongside, I began to see my vision come to life. I decided against a traditional white gown after a lot of back and forth in my head. The gold dress solidified the idea that elopements can be whatever you want them to be, traditional or not. I have a deep-rooted appreciation for the traditional western lifestyle that comes from the way I grew up, alongside horses and a rodeoing family, but I also have a love for the new trends that we are seeing in the wedding industry. I wanted to create something that combined both. When all was said and done, the styled elopement embraced more modern trends but accompanied them with details that held some western flare.
