Cynthia and I had a vision of creating a styled shoot and mock wedding that people had never seen before. We went all out creating crazy props and prepared for this shoot for weeks. With the moon backdrop we wanted to create a moodier dramatic feel. The arch with the hanging orchid was meant to look like a ceremony. I loved having the groom with the more edgy look surrounded by flowers to portray a grungy yet feminine vibe. The rainbows might’ve been my favorite part! I love rainbows and am often inspired as a photographer by store displays. I saw something that incorporated rainbows in one of my favorite stores and knew we had to create something inspired that could be used as our third backdrop.
The Salt Flats were the perfect location for this shoot because I love the texture they add and airy vibe they bring into the photos. I rented the dresses from Boda Bridal and went for a more boho feel since that’s more my style. Our goal for this shoot is to inspire future couples to step outside of the box and go for something extraordinary. I want to inspire people to go away from the traditional wedding that many couples have and do something very intimate and unique. One of the silver linings of COVID in my opinion has been how intimate each wedding/ceremony has become. There’s something special about being more selective about guest invitations and I think it glamorizes the wedding.
