This incredible intimate wedding for Katie and Jake took place just outside of one of the most magical parks in Colorado— Garden of the Gods.
Katie, herself being a photographer and around weddings constantly throughout the year, wanted her to day to be stress-free and chalk-full of moments that were special between her and Jake to really appreciate their love for one another and who they are as a couple. To avoid working around timelines, typical wedding festivities, and all the hustle and bustle of a big planned day— they chose to have a small wedding in a place that was adventurous, spontaneous, and perfect for them. Katie + Jake are both from Derby, Kansas— where as far as you can see there aren’t any mountains in sight. The both of them traveled to Colorado together and fell in love with everything about it. After months of chatting back and forth with vendors, the two of them and 25 of their closest friends and family traveled from Kansas to witness them become husband and wife.
The morning of their wedding day was so special because they wanted to take moments for themselves without anyone else around, having just started the day, and exchange their personal vows at sunrise in Garden of the Gods. Tears were shed and heartfelt words were said and we spent two hours running around chasing golden sunlight as it hit the peaks of the red rock spires. The perfect beginning to a perfect day. They held their ceremony in a location chosen out moments before it began—a pop up ceremony– just outside of the park with the park in full view. Following the ceremony they had a small intimate dinner on the patio of the place they were staying under twinkling lights. Their day couldn’t have been more spontaneous and fitting for these two!
